About PageWeight
PageWeight is a free, no-signup website performance analyzer. Enter any URL and get a plain-English breakdown of what’s slowing it down — starting with the highest-impact issues.
How it works
PageWeight sends your URL to the Google PageSpeed Insights API and presents the results in plain English. The analysis runs Google’s Lighthouse engine — the same technology powering the Performance tab in Chrome DevTools and the Core Web Vitals report in Google Search Console.
Results are returned directly to your browser. We do not store the performance data from your scan.
What we analyze
- Image optimization — which images could be smaller as AVIF or WebP, with exact savings per file
- Core Web Vitals — Largest Contentful Paint, First Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time, Cumulative Layout Shift, and Speed Index
- Third-party scripts — external tools blocking page load and their transfer sizes
- Render-blocking resources — JavaScript and CSS that delay the browser from displaying the page
- Unused JavaScript and CSS — code downloaded by visitors but never executed
- Server response time — time to first byte before the browser can load anything
- Text compression — whether HTML, CSS, and JS are served with gzip or brotli
- Real user data — Chrome User Experience Report data showing how actual visitors experience the site (where available)
Why mobile?
PageWeight analyzes the mobile version of your site because Google uses mobile-first indexing — your search ranking is based on mobile performance. This is the most relevant signal for both SEO and real-world user experience. Mobile and desktop performance can differ significantly, particularly for image-heavy pages.
Who built this
PageWeight is built by Picqlo, an image optimization service that converts images to AVIF and WebP. If your scan shows image savings and your site runs WordPress, Picqlo can fix them in two minutes with no developer needed.
Privacy
Scans are processed via the Google PageSpeed Insights API — subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. PageWeight does not collect or store the URLs you scan or the performance results. If you submit your email address for monitoring updates, we store only your email address and will not share it with third parties.
